I love Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles. It has action, adventure, drama and comedy in it!

I recently started watching Inuyasha and Pretear which also have all that in it.

I'd highly recommend those.

Naruto/ Naruto Shippuden, Inuyasha, Bleach, Death Note, FMA, Sailor Moon, Yu-gi-oh, DBZ, Avatar (which isn't exactly anime, but is pretty good none-the-less)...I've also heard that the Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya and D. Gray-man are also some good series...

Slayers. (Fighting, Comedy)
Seasons : Slayers First, Slayers Next, Slayers Try,
Slayers Revolution (Fighting and spell casting scenes are awesome)

Characters:
Lina - aspiring wizard (learns new spells along the way, i love the way she chants her spells.)
Gourry - Swordsman with a weapon, sword of light (which resembles the light saber from Star Wars) whose origins are unknown... as well as the identity of the swordsman, who is he?
Zelgadis - swordsman + wizard, who was cursed and became a monster - seeking to find a cure but will he find it?
Xellos - Who is this mysterious person following them around? Is he a friend or foe? He is a mysterious person who appears constantly throughout the 2-4 seasons whose intentions are always hidden and unknown. Yet he is the most powerful character around. (Sometimes helping them and sometimes not helping them and giving them trouble.)
Amelia - priest + wizard

Normally the first few episodes of this anime are fillers. But once gotten past these episodes - it will be an exciting anime. My favourite episode being when Xellos appears which is episode 2 of Slayers Next.
