the place i work does a birthday special if you come in on your birthday you get the one hour sweedish massage for $45 wich is ten dollars off the regular price. no upgrades or subsitutes at all. the special is only good on the acutlal day of your birthday but some therapist are forgiving if its in the same week. for my best best best clients ill get them a card. and maby add like a mini scrub or parafin.

I had an instructor suggest to us to do a freebie on someone's birthday. I can't see myself do that, so I offer $25 off their next session that is good until the end of the next month. This may sound like a lot, but I wanted it to be special for their birthday. Some people tell me that the only gift they got for their birthday was my offer and I think they truly appreciate it. Plus, not everyone takes me up on it, so it is not like I am booked with tons of discounted massages.

I send a card for $20 off their massage in celebration of their birthday.  Since it is a gift from me, I don't put an expiration on these.   When they come in to redeem it, they get a world music CD and get to lay on the swanky "special sheets"... hehe.  If it's an evening appointment, I will light a couple of candles.

I have been doing a 20% discount during the month of their birthday or if they come in the day of their birthday I give them a 90 min for the price of one hour.  Most people take me up on the day of which really isn't a bad deal on both sides.  I get $55 from them and they get a 'few' extra minutes.  I get a great response on my birthday specials.  Also did a similar mailout before I went on a 3 week vacation.  20% off if they came in the 2 weeks before I left, or a 10% discount for the 2 weeks after I returned.  I was slammed during before & after and made enough to pay rent while my room was 'unoccupied' (did have a girlfriend use my room to treat my regulars that couldn't possibly go 3 weeks without a massage) and I had plenty of spending money during vacation.Good luck.

I send my clients a birthday letter with a coupon for 10.00 off their next massage.  They must use the coupon within 30 days of their b-day.  I get fairly good response and have also heard how appreciated some are that their b-day was remembered.

I keep a list of client names and birthday months, then I send birthday postcards to each recipient at the beginning of their birthday month (I'm mailing the December folks on 11/22).   I offer them a complimentary foot scrub with any length massage session they book during their birthday month.   I don't own my own business, so this is my way of doing something special without having the owner pay "extra".  I provide the scrub.   Its easy to incorporate the scrub within the timeframe.I think acknowledging birthdays is a wonderful gesture.
